One of my sister’s classmates at University High School, Regina Chun, was one of the favored few young journalists who were invited to a press conference with Elvis when he stopped in Honolulu for a two-week stay.
At the time, the Honolulu Star-Bulletin gave Chun and other teen journalists regular space for teen news. According to a story in the March 26, 1961 Star-Bulletin, the press conference was mainly attended “by representatives of high school newspapers.”
I found a scanned copy of this photo among my sister’s computer files.

As one who remembers well the emotional hormonal roller coaster felt when I was a teenager and Elvis Presley visited my City (Portland in mid 1950’s), I am in awe of Regina Chun’s composure in this photo.
